MLA Vungzathang initiates programme to improve livelihood of villagers

Lamka, Nov.17: Thanlon Assembly Constituency, MLA Vungzagin Valte inspected the condition of his constituency and had assured to make people of his constituency a hunger free community. The programme will be taken up with assistance with the NERCOMP in consultation with the District Level Committee.The programme will improve the livelihood of vulnerable villagers of Thanlon sub-division in a sustainable manner through improved management of their resources base in a way that contributes to preservation and restoration of the environment.According to the Project Officer, NERCOMP D Khuala Vaiphei the object of the project is to enable and empower rural poor to overcome poverty.When asked about the implementation of the project, D Khuala Vaiphei said that the project will be taken up by establishment of viable, equitable and sustainable village institutions by formation of Natural Resource Management Groups and Self Help Groups.He said that the project components included village road and rural electrification; communities based bio-diversity conservation, and project management.
