Imphal, June 11: A cleanliness drive was carried out at Khongjom War Memorial Complex at Khongjom Kheba Ching this morning under Swach Bharat Abhiyan by the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha.
Prominent persons who participated in cleaning the busy tourist site were president of BJYM Manipur Pradesh, Somorjit, state secretary in charge of BJP Thoubal unit, L Tejkumar, president of BJP Thoubal district, L Deven, president of BJYM, Thoubal district, Ch Sanjoy, district president of mahila morcha, Ch Ranjita and volunteers of the party from the district.
Later, BJP legislator and parliamentary secretary N Indrajit who is in charge of SBA in Manipur arrive there to inspect the work carried out for cleaning the place.
Talking to media persons Indrajit said while the nationwide cleanliness campaign is the brainchild of the prime minister of India Narendra Modi, the chief minister of Manipur N Biren is spearheading its execution in the state. Today’s programme that was taken up at Khongjom War Memorial is the second in the series of activities being considered under the SBA, he added.
The idea to conduct such a cleanliness drive at the memorial site was guided by the philosophy of chief minister Biren on drawing project plans which are practical and leave aside those which are impossible to execute and let our deeds speak for us, the Kshetrigaon MLA said. He called for the public to actively participate in the mission at the local level and provide assistance to the administration in making it a success.
“The mission will be taken up in all the districts in the state. Also, the cleanliness programme taken up at Khongjom Kheba ching will not be the last at the spot and future decision will be made after consultation with party workers at the state and district levels,” said the parliamentary secretary.
