Misunderstanding Resolved: FOCS and ZSUM look forward to peaceful coexistence

Imphal, Feb 13:

Simmering tension erupted following the abduction of Giangjilung Rongmei, son of Borouchao Rongmei, and Jeanguanglung Malangmei, son of Pouguilung Malangmeiat, on January 29, 2024, at Ngangkhalawai has been amicably resolved and settled after an agreement was reached between the representatives of the Zeliangrong Students’ Union Manipur (ZSUM) and the Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) today.
“…..it is hereby agreed between the Zeliangrong Students’ Union Manipur (ZSUM) and the Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) Manipur that an understanding is brought between two parties regarding the recent incident of abduction of Mr. Giangjilung Rongmei, son of Mr. Borouchao Rongmei, and Jeanguanglung Malangmei, son of Pouguilung Malangmei at Ngangkhalawai (Moirang), Bishnupur district, which occurred on 29th January 2024,” a joint statement signed by Jona Thaimei, President ZSUM, and Th. Manihar, President FOCS, said.
The statement further stated that the ZSUM and FOCS, representing both communities, have come to an understanding and resolved the matter. The two organizations appeal to the public not to create any further misunderstandings during this crisis.
“ZSUM and FOCS are looking forward to ensuring peace and coexistence between the two communities,” the statement added.
