Miscreants trigger blast at Congress leader’s residence; Locals stage protest

Tension gripped Khurai Kongpal Ningthoubung Leikai in Imphal East after unidentified miscreants detonated an explosive device at the residence of Toijam Lokendro Singh late Tuesday night, prompting local women to stage a protest on Wednesday.
Toijam Lokendro Singh serves as Chairman of the Labour Department of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee. According to reports, the blast occurred at around 10:30 pm. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Police and forensic teams conducted a spot inspection at the site on Wednesday morning. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the explosion.
Meanwhile, Congress Legislature Party leader Keisham Meghachandra strongly condemned the incident, terming it a serious breach of security. In a statement posted on X, he described the explosion at the residence of a political functionary in a high-security zone as “shocking” and raised concerns over the prevailing law and order situation in Imphal.
He demanded immediate arrest of those responsible and called upon the government to ensure adequate security for both public representatives and civilians.
