Minister V. Valte graces State Level Painting & Photo Exhivition of Tribal Freedom Fighters

In recognition of the valiant efforts of tribal freedom fighters who contributed greatly to the Indian freedom movement, the Tribal Affairs and Hills Department organizes State Level Painting & Photo Exhibition of Tribal Freedom Fighters to pay respect to the tribal freedom fighters on the occation of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas which is celebrated as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) celebrations today at Tribal Research Institute, Chingmeirong.
Speaking on the occasion as the Chief Guest, Minister (TA & Hills, GAD and Transport) Vungzagin Valte expressed his admiration of the iconic tribal leader Birsa Munda who led a rebellion against the British. He also applauded the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi who recognized the unsung heroes of the tribal freedom fighters who might have been forgotten altogether if it were not for his timely action. “The tribal freedom fighters were never recognized by the previous governments, but it is only the Prime Minister of India who recognized the importance of history, its contributors and the tribals participation in the freedom movement,” he added.
Minister Valte presented traditional shawl to Ngamkholun Kuki who fought against the British forces and also opened the State Level Painting and Photo Exhibition of Tribal Freedom fighters during the function.
Letkhogin Haokip, Addl. CS (TA & Hills), M. Joy Singh, Commissioner (Art & Culture) and C. Arthur Worchuiyo, Director (TA & Hills) graced the function as Guests of Honours and Functional President respectively.
