Mumbai, Aug. 30:

Maharashtra home department has written to CBI to investigate the role of film director Sandeep Singh and his BJP connection. Singh, who had made the biopic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had allegedly supplied drugs to actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh told media that his department has written to the CBI asking to probe the role of Sandeep Singh in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. Deshmukh said that he received a lot of requests to probe the role of Sandeep Singh and his connection with the BJP. “CBI is investigating the case. So it will be appropriate that the agency should also investigate Sandeep Singh’s role”.
Maharashtra Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant had earlier claimed that between September 1 and December 30, Sandeep Singh had called the Maharashtra BJP office 53 times. “We are curious to know to who Singh spoke to. What was the reason? His relationship with BJP leaders should be exposed. It shows there is a BJP connection to Sushant Singh Rajput’s case,” Sawant said.
Sawant further said that Singh got the poster of Modi biopic released at the hands of ex-CM Devendra Fadnavis. The CBI should also call Fadnavis. People should know the “fishy” role of the BJP leaders in Sushant’s death case. Moreover, there was a sexual harassment case pending against Singh that also has to be probed. He further claimed that for the PM’s biopic, Singh’s “Legend Global Studio” was the only film company which signed an MoU worth Rs 177 crore at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, and sought to know why only that company inked the deal.
The Congress leader said that the leaked social media messages of Rhea Chakraborty are from the time when the BJP-led government ruled the state, so it can be ‘said’ that drugs were so easily available during the BJP regime. Referring to media reports that Singh may flee the country, Sawant said there are many questions, such as the mystery behind the hasty CBI probe etc., which need proper investigations. He tweeted pictures of Fadnavis, who is now the Leader of Opposition, with Singh at the poster-launch of the film, “PM Narendra Modi” (2019) in which actors Suresh Oberoi and the film’s lead actor Vivek Oberoi were also seen. However Fadnavis, denied all accusations.
