Minister Shyamkumar disqualification case : Speaker directs both parties to submit arguments on or before February 12

Hearing of the disqualification case of Minister Th. Shyamkumar which has been pending for a long time begins today at the Speaker’s Tribunal of the Manipur Legislative Assembly. The Supreme Court has earlier directed the State Legislative Assembly to take up the pending case within four weeks time on January 21, 2020.

After the submission from both the counsel of the petitioner and the respondent were heard by the Speaker, directed both the parties to submit their respective arguments in writing on or before February 12, 2020.

Minister Shyamkumar’s counsel prays the tribunal by filing an application for taking up the matter only after February 11, 2020, as the matter has been pending for quite a long time and in view of the Budget Session to be commenced from February 14, 2020. However, the Speaker rejected the plea for adjournment.
