Minister Jayantakumar Unveiled Statue of Kharam Maichou Thadoi

Imphal, Nov 4, 2019 : Art & Culture Minister L. Jayantakumar Singh today has unveiled the statue of Kharam Maichou Thadoi (Pharuisim) at Kharam Pallel, village in Kangpokpi District. Kharam Maichou is one amongst the seven maichous of Manipur. The Minister also inaugurated Laamtuol Fencing, Kharam Pallel. Speaking at the unveiling of the statue of Kharam Maichou Thadoi (Pharuisim) as Chief Guest, Jayantakumar said that Kharam Maichou Thadoi is the only leader with genius talent from tribal communities in Manipur. There is still research going on by the scholars about such famous personalities. The wisdom of our maichous should be adorned and preserved by this new generation and their philosophies and mighty deeds. Only unveiling of his statue will not mean to glorify their ideologies and great deeds. This event will become a mark to develop tourism in Kharam village which is also a historical site.
Minister Jayantakumar also assured to set up a Primary Health Sub-Centre at Kharam Pallel to avail health care service to the people of Kharam Pallel. Minister appealed the villagers to work in coordination with the government to improve and develop other sectors of the village too. He said that the event of unveiling such a statue of a mighty leader will definitely bring peace and integrity between different communities in the state.
Speaking at the occasion, as guest of honour, Director Art & Culture, Government of Manipur, A. Shivdas Sharma said that it is the duty of every citizen to protect and uphold the ideologies of our maichous. Their philosophies and deeds have become inspirations and a model of way of life for the new generation. Speaking as guest of honour, Director Tourism, W. Ibohal Singh said that it is very fortunate for all of us to get an opportunity to trace the foot steps of our forefathers. He also assured all possible measures to develop tourism in the area. Kharam Union President R. Samuel Kharam presided the unveiling and inauguration of Laamtuol Fencing which is also a historical site. Village chief and others also attended the function.
