Memorandum submitted to President by People’s Progressive Alliance Manipur

The People’s Progressive Alliance Manipur (PPAM), a collective of various civil society organisations, has submitted a memorandum to the President of India seeking urgent intervention over a recent incident involving the 4th Mahar Regiment and ongoing unrest in the state.
The memorandum was submitted following widespread public outrage over an incident on May 20 during the Shirui Lily Festival, where the name “Manipur State Transport” was allegedly removed from a state-run bus transporting journalists.
In the memorandum, the alliance outlined several demands, including the resignation of Union Minister, removal of state officials including Governor, Security Advisor to the Governor , Chief Secretary, Director General of Police; directive to reinstate state identity and ensure safe passage, Amendment of the Indian Constitution including Exemption of Manipur from Article 3 of the Constitution, Presidential ordinance affirming Manipur’s territorial integrity, Incorporation of Manipur’s historical status into the Constitution.
The memorandum was signed by seventeen organisations under the PPAM umbrella which include All India Tanzeem-E Insaaf-Manipur (AITI-M), All Manipur Democratic Students’ Organisation (AMDSO), All Manipur Meitei Pangal Clubs’ Organisation (AMMPACO), Apunba Awonba Manipur Amagidamak (AAMA), Committee of Peaceful Coexistence, Manipur (CPCM), Committee on Relief & Rehabilitation (CRR), Federal Students’ Organisation, Kangleipak (FESOK), Federation of Indigenous People’s Democratic Movement (FIDM), Imagi Meira (IM), Kanglei People Against Narcotics & Psychotropic Substances (Kanglei Panas), Manipur International Youth Centre (MIYC), Meetei Meitei Tribe Union (MMTU), Minority Students’ Association (MSA), Nupi Union For Peace and Integrity (NUPI), United Meitei Pangal Committee (UMPC), Yelhoumee Phurup (YP), and Youth Collective Manipur (YCM).
