Thoubal, March 15:

Meira rally protesting the arrest of three Pambei-led UNLF cadres, including its Chief of Army and Intelligence Chief, by the NIA was held at Langathel in Thoubal district last night. The rally commenced from Langathel Laikhom Keithel and proceeded through Khongjom Bazar and Phundrei Road before returning to its starting point, Langathel.
The rally saw participation of the large number of locals who demanded the unconditional release of the arrested individuals and urged the government not to take action against village volunteers involved in the protection and defense of Meitei villages.
A Meira Paibi leader who participated in the rally stated, “Pambei-led UNLF has signed a peace agreement with the central government, and therefore, the arrest of the Chief of Army, Chief Intelligence, and Cadre by the NIA on March 13 is completely unjustified. They should be released unconditionally.”
The protesters also warned that if these three individuals are not released, the government should prepare to face intense agitation from the public. They complained against the arrests saying that it shows India’s poor treatment of Manipur and its people saying that it is unacceptable.
