Meira Paibi representatives from Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Assembly Constituency have urged the Cyber Crime Police to take stringent action against Paonam Dhaneshor over alleged objectionable social media posts targeting MLA S. Kebi.
The demand was raised at a gathering of Meira Paibi representatives at the Community Hall, Heirangoithong, today.
Meira Paibi leader Maibam Purnimashi alleged that Dhaneshor, around 60, of Khurai Kongpal Sajor Leikai, created a Facebook account under the name “P. Premananda” and posted defamatory remarks against the MLA.
She said the alleged posts had caused concern among Meira Paibi organisations and amounted to an attempt to malign a woman public representative.
Purnimashi urged the Cyber Crime Police to take legal action against the accused and warned that failure to address such incidents could encourage similar attacks on women.
She also appealed to social media users to refrain from posting or sharing content that undermines the dignity and reputation of women.
