Special awareness campaign on mother and child health +A and Mission Indradhanush 2015- 16 which was commenced from 7th Jan 2015 has been concluded today at Lamyanba Sanglen, Palace Compound. The function was organized by Directorate of Field Publicity,Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Regional Office Nagaland and Manipur Region, under the objective – to immunize all children with vaccines against seven preventable diseases namely diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, Measles and Hepatitis B by 2020.
Deputy Chief Minister, Gaikhangam who attended the function as Chief Guest said that people should be active on the awareness campaign which has been taken up by the government. He however expressed dissatisfaction over public negligence towards such awareness programme and added that such programme will have no value if it fails to reach the people.
He said media is playing major role in disseminating the valuable contain of the awareness programme to the people.
“Media is the bridge between the government and the public”, Gaikhangam said.
Emphasizing the role of DIPR and Culture department, the Dy. CM said that the two departments is considered as important department next to finance department.
The IIS regional director Dr. Engam Pame said that government of India has launched a number of developmental projects under five year plans to strategically develop the country with the vision to build India – a Strong, vital and prosperous nation.
MLA R.K.Imo , Regional Director of Health and Family Welfare, Dr.L. Ashnanda and Station Director of All India Radio Imphal, M Kanankumar also graced the function as Guest of Honour and President respectively.
