Media fraternity suspends boycott to Manipur Government related news

Following assurance by the new Information and publicity Minister, Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh to clear the pending advertisement bill, the Media fraternity in Manipur has resolved to suspend the ongoing boycott of Manipur government related news over non payment of advertisement bills by the state government.
The resolution was taken following a meeting of the representatives of the publishers, media organisations, All Manipur Working Journalists Union, Editors Guild Manipur and the Manipur Hill Journalists Union with the newly inducted IPR Minister SapamRanjan.
The meeting initiated by the Chief Minister N Biren Singh, discussed the issue of pending bills running into crores of rupees laying with various government department. The new IPR Minister on his part informed the media delegate that departments under him, particularly NRHM, under Health Department were already processing bills to be released in a very short time. He also said that he was new to the department and assured the delegates that he will hold a meeting with his officers and take up every possible measure and appealed to the delegate to give him some time.
A joint meeting of the media bodies chaired by the AMWJU President, W Shyamjai, EGM President KhKhogen and President MHJU, Peter Adani, after deliberating on the outcome of the meeting decided to suspend the media boycott of the Manipur government news and advertisement with effect from 4th May 2022.
