MCPCR urges Transport dept. to conduct enquiry of May 5 school van accident

Imphal, May 10: The Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) had taken up a suo motto case of the May 5 School accident at which a school van carrying 21 students felt in a pond . The Commission has also written a letter to the Director Transport Department, Manipur to inquire on the matter relating to deprivation and violation of Child Rights; non-implementation of laws providing for protection and development of children and noncompliance of policy decisions, guidelines or instructions aimed at mitigating hardships to and ensuring welfare of the children and to provide relief to such children to send a report to the Commission.
