MAYOL’s long march enters its 7th day; calls for national regeneration garner more support

The long march by the Manipur Youth League (MAYOL), which started on December 20 from Kangla Uttra Shanglen in Imphal, reached Wabagai in Kakching district this evening. The volunteers of the long march were greeted with slogans to strengthen the unity of the people.
Before reaching Wabagai, where a public meeting for national regeneration was held, the MAYOL volunteers were received by a large number of people at Langmeidong Playground as they continued their march from Kakching Khunou this morning.
People, while receiving the MAYOL volunteers, chanted slogans to regenerate unity among the people of the state by throwing flowers. Slogans of “Let us unite for tomorrow; We will no longer suffer devastation” filled the air at Langmeidong.
At Langmeidong playground, a public meeting was held with local women’s leaders of the area attending as presidium members.
Dr. Lukaram Mamta, Assistant Professor of Naorem Birahari College Sawombung, Leishangthem Lamyanba, president of DESAM, and Asem Prince, Convenor of MAYOL, were the main speakers of the public meeting.
After the meeting, the volunteers of MAYOL headed towards Wabagai, where a public meeting was held at Wanbai Lamkhai market. The volunteers of MAYOL will spend tonight at Kakching Indoor Stadium.
Yesterday, they crossed Bishnupur district and entered Kakching district, passing through Wangoo, Pangaltabi, and Kakching Khunou, where similar meetings were held. President SWYC N Amu, Rk Laskshmi, spokesperson Kakching district Meira Paibi Apunba lup, Dr. Naorem Sanatomba, Assistant Professor Department of Manipuri, Manipur University, HERICON President Longjam Ratankumar, Social scientist Dr. Dhanabir Laishram, and All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU) president Bijoy Kakchingtabam and Ashem Prince, Convenor of MAYOL, attended those meetings as resource persons.
