Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) organised a public awareness programme yesterday at Keishamthong Hodam Leirak Community Hall as part of its year-long “Vote for National Regeneration Campaign” launched in connection with the upcoming 13th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election.
The campaign, which was officially launched on January 16, 2026 at the Auditorium of Manipur University, aims to promote a healthy democratic electoral culture in Manipur and create public awareness on the prevailing political situation in the State.
The programme was attended by Dr. Dhanabir Laishram, Koijam Suresh, Satyamala Thongam, Pheiroijam Dinachanda and Sanasam Muhindro as speakers.
The speakers observed that despite repeated elections over the years, Manipur has failed to develop a healthy democratic electoral culture, leading to various social and political problems in the State.
Expressing concern over the growing influence of money power and muscle power in elections, the speakers stressed the need to protect the democratic process and urged the public to better understand the role of politics in building a healthy society.
The speakers also called upon the people to critically examine prevailing political practices ahead of the upcoming Assembly election and work collectively towards strengthening democratic values in the State.
MAYOL appealed to the public to actively support the ongoing mass awareness campaign and contribute constructive suggestions for promoting clean and responsible electoral practices in Manipur.
