MAYOL continues campaign for free and fair elections ahead of Lok Sabha polls

IT News
Imphal, April 8:

In the ongoing efforts to enhance the campaign for a free and fair election preceding the 18th Lok Sabha Election, volunteers from the Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) were seen actively engaging with the populace at Khwairamband keithel in Imphal today. They distributed informational booklets as part of their initiative named “Vote for National Regeneration”.
Earlier this year, on January 9, MAYOL, following a long march, held a public meeting at Langthabal where resolutions were adopted in conjunction with the public, emphasizing the imperative role of youth participation in politics for effecting change in Manipur.
Continuing their momentum, MAYOL organized additional public meetings at Phumlou and Thanga in Bishnupur districts. Noteworthy figures such as Santa Nahakpam and Samananda participated as resource persons in the Phumlou gathering, while Romen Leishangthem and Puyam Joykumar, both renowned social activists, graced the Thanga meeting.
One of the core focuses of MAYOL’s campaign is the opposition against the utilization of money power and muscle power by political entities and their candidates. The campaign emphasizes abstaining from festivities, such as feasts, refraining from proxy voting, and avoiding participation in election road shows and rallies.
MAYOL is particularly advocating for people to steer clear of poll-related festivities like feasts, election rallies, and road-shows, as these events often serve as platforms for candidates to sway voters, potentially influencing the outcome of the election. The organization expressed staunch commitment to eradicating such practices, ensuring voters can exercise their rights freely, without any external pressures.
The proactive endeavors of MAYOL underscore a broader movement toward fostering transparency and integrity within the electoral process, signaling a growing awareness and engagement among Manipur’s youth towards shaping the political landscape of the region.
