Marangching tragedy: With one more body recovered on day 18, total dead bodies reaches 56

Shocks still continue recalling the horror at occurred at Marangching in Noney district on June 30, where a large inhabitant sites was completely covered with a massive landslide killing and injuring number of people.
From day one of the tragedy the nearby villagers tried their best to save those who were caught in the tragedy. That was followed by quick response from both the State and the central government. The Indian security forces including the army, police ,NDRF, SDRF , among others spares no pain in searching and rescuing those victims of the tragedy. More tears rolls from the members, relatives and near and dear one of those lifeless body found buried in the landslide. Some are fortunate, but continue to survive in trauma who were saved by the rescue team.
On day 18 of the search operation one more lifeless body of a woman was found by the rescue team reaching the recovered bodies to 56.
The body of a woman identified as one of the missing villager as Thiusinliu Gondoimei, was recovered around 10.30 am, the sources said.
Earlier the team on work at the landslide site had recued 18 people, many of which are from the Territorial Army and the Assam Rifles. Chief Minister N. Biren Singh had also provided financial assistant to those rescued personnel who have been undergoing treatment at Millitary Hospital at Mantripulhri.
The Manipur-Makhuam landslide search and rescue operation was conducted under the supervision of government appointed team. Almost all officers assigned for the job assisting the Noney district administration and keep continued visiting and inspecting the site daring the heavy rains and the souring summer heat.
“We will continue the search operation until the last one is found”, a personnel on rescue operation told media persons.
Even as 56 bodies have been recovered and 18 others were rescued alive so far, villager source said that five others remained missing as 79 people were affected by the landslide that took place on the intervening night of June 29-30 at Makhuam village in Marangching area in Noney district.
