MAPI Council, KIMACS support COCOMI’s Sangai Festival boycott

The Manipur Peace and Integrity (MAPI) Council and the Kangleipak Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS) have extended their support to the boycott of the Sangai Festival called by the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), citing the prevailing crisis in the state.

The organisations said the government has failed to resolve the crisis even after more than three years and five months, with over 60,000 people still staying in relief camps due to the lack of a concrete resettlement arrangement.

They also pointed to the destruction of houses, restricted movement along national highways for certain communities, continuing violence resulting in deaths and injuries, and the reported burning of houses as reasons for supporting the boycott.
