In a press release signed by Nonglen Meitei, Secretary Publicity and Propaganda, Maoist Communist Party, Manipur stated that the group has received information of some drug abusing miscreants are making monetary demands using the names of various armed outfits from the people of Yairipok area i.e., Kakmayai, Nongpok Sekmai, Salungpham, Ningel and Chandrakhong, etc. And members of the outfit are conducting operations to arrest the miscreants involved in the extortion racket.
Nonglen further stated that the outfit has cautioned all the families who are victims of the extortion gang to be aware of the miscreants, and that the party is all set to eliminate the miscreants. He added that the political cadres of the group has gone and informed to all the local Meira Paibi and representatives of clubs regarding the matter and leaders have been selected from each societies to capture the wrongdoers. The decision has been taken after the outfit received a complaint that a group of miscreants threatened to kill the locals if their monetary demands are not met. Nonglen stated that no militant group who are working for its own citizens would ever think of harming its citizens. The outfit never asked for monetary demands from the people of Yairipok or asked for help from any individuals. The outfit has been established to complete the struggle of late freedom fighter Lamyanba Hijam Irabot who fought to bring a united society.
The statement further asserted that the outfit had never threatened the public nor demanded monetary fund from the people and never will conduct such activities.
