Maoist calls off general strike

Maoist Communist Party, Manipur today said the outfit has called off the proposed 12 hours general strike on 22nd February.A press statement signed by Comrade Nonglen Meitei, Secretary Publicity and Propaganda, Maoist Communist Party, Manipur said that the general strike has been called off as the five Catholic Schools in the state resolved to exclude Moral Education from the syllabus of these schools. It further said that the decision of Catholic Society to exclude Moral Education in these five Catholic Schools namely Little Flower School, St. Joseph School, Nirmalabas School, Catholic School Canchipur and Christ Jyoti Mantripukri starting from the academic session 2015 is the beginning of a change. It further said that the Schools had given assurance that they will not do anything that may misguide the students in the future. The statement also warned that the outfit will not remain silent if any school act against the move of the outfit to make all the schools secular.
