Maoist boycotts Independence Day

While appealing to boycott the Independence Day to be celebrated on August 15 across the state, Maoist Communist Party, Manipur has called general strike from midnight of August 14 to August 15 midnight.
Press media and emergency will be exempted from the purview of the general strike, said a release from the banned armed group.
It also said that after India had forcefully merged Manipur into the Union of India, people of Manipur have been facing various forms of atrocities meted out by the colonial forces.
