‘Manipur still suppressed using draconian laws’
Armed group Maoist Communist Party, Manipur (MCP-M) has called 12 hours general strike on January 26 from 5am to 5pm to boycott the Republic day celebration.
In a press statement signed by comrade Nonglen Meitei, Secretary, Publicity and propaganda MCP-M, the Maoist called on the people to boycott the Republic celebration. It said Manipur was never apart of India and it was forcibly annexed against the will of the people. Since, Manipur has been annexed by Indian people have been suffering the worst form of human rights violation. It also gives example of how Th Monorama has been killed by the Indian Armed Force and how the agitation of Irom Chanu Sharmila has been suppressed by the government.
On the other hand the outfit also blamed the government over its failure to punish those responsible to the building of the two Ima Keithel which were damaged during the recent Earthquake . It said the government is playing politics with the people. It also blamed for inciting communal feeling between various communities of the state by converting the historic Thangjing to Thangting.
‘India treats the people of NE as slaves’
Armed group Kangleipak Communist Party, Poirei Meitei Lup has called general strike in North East states of India on January 26 to boycott the Republic day celebration. In a press statement, Malemnganba Meetei, Publicity secy. of the outfit said that Indian has been occupying the North Eastern states of India for over 67 years and people of the region still have to live a live which is worst then the live of a slave. The outfit said that celebrating the Republic Day celebration of India is nothing but pinching the sentiments of the people of the region who has been fighting for restoration of the lost freedom.
It said that the Indian agent are utilising all means to suppress the freedom struggle of the people. Extra judicial killings and fake encounter are some of the tools utilised by the Indian Union to suppress the peoples’ struggle.
The rebel group also term the Suspension of operation as another trap to suppress the revolutionary movement.
It also added that those who are trap in the surrender policy have now become an obstacle to the freedom movement of the people.
The outfit appealed to stay indoor during the general strike.
