MANIREDA’s Jiribam Solar PV Plant neglected, Turns into Overgrown Jungle

IT News
Jiribam, Jan 08:

The solar PV park, constructed under Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) situated in Harinagar Village, Jiribam District, is grappling with neglect, transforming into an unintended jungle.
During a recent visit by The Imphal Times, it was observed that the ground-mounted solar panels, numbering 598, were meticulously installed in the park, forming a comprehensive setup capable of generating around 200 kilowatts of power.
However, despite the successful installation of the solar panels, the project appears to be abandoned, resembling several other failed endeavors in Jiribam. Local sources revealed that the project commenced in the 2018-19 period, yet there are no benefits or power generation from the solar plant.
It is worth recalling that the Manipur Government, in a significant move to enhance self-reliance in power supply in Jiribam District, initiated the construction of this solar PV park under MANIREDA’s purview at Harinagar. Regrettably, the solar park remains non-functional and is succumbing to neglect, gradually turning into an unforeseen jungle.
The lack of progress in harnessing solar energy from this project raises questions about the efficacy of such initiatives and highlights the need for sustained efforts to ensure the success of renewable energy endeavors.
