Manipuri Kokyet to be part of new uniform of Parliament Marshals

At what could be term as a pride for the Manipuri Meitei, Kokyet, a kind of turban for Manipuri Meitei people, which has high cultural and traditional values will be a part of the uniform in the Parliament House of India.
“Parliament House employees will don new uniforms during the special session starting from September 18”, a notification by the government said.
It added that The Marshals in both houses of the Parliament will also don a new uniform.
Manipuri turban (Kokyet) will be a part of the Marshals uniform.
Marshals of both houses of the Parliament—the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha—will appear in new uniforms that include Manipuri turbans.
The Bandhgala suit of the secretariat staff will be replaced by a shirt with a lotus flower design.
They will also be wearing khaki-colored loose pants and a Nehru jacket.
Manipuri turban and Kannada turban will be made part of the uniform of the marshals in both the Houses of Parliament.
The security personnel at the Parliament will be provided commando training.
Instead of safari suits, they will be given uniforms similar to that of the military.
Women officers have been assigned bright-coloured sarees with jackets to be worn during winter. The parliament session is set to begin on September 18 in the old building.
The parliament proceedings are expected to shift to the new building on September 19 on Ganesh Chaturthi, which is considered auspicious for making new beginnings.
