The Manipur Women’s Federation (MWF) marked its first Foundation Day at the City Convention Centre in Manipur today. The event was graced by Retired Session Judge Aribam Noutuneshwari Devi as the chief guest, while MWF President Kh. Shini Devi presided over the function.
Distinguished guests included Th. Manihar, President of the Federation of Civil Society Manipur (FOCS), Lashram Boby, Upadhyaksha of Imphal West, Th. Sujata Devi, Convenor of Imagi Meira, L. Mema, Secretary of Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup, and M. Sorojini, President of the Universal Mother Organisation.
In her address, MWF President Kh. Shini highlighted the organization’s efforts in supporting women deprived of their rights due to ignorance. “We have been extending all possible help to women in the handloom and farming sectors,” she stated. Shini also mentioned the organization’s support for village defenders in the aftermath of attacks by Kuki militants.
Appealing for peace, Shini urged both the Kuki and Meitei communities not to misuse their weapons against innocent civilians. “We call on all armed individuals to use their weapons for the protection of the common people and not to harass innocent citizens,” she emphasized.
Shini further called on the government to demonstrate its commitment to serving the public and the citizens of Manipur effectively.
