The National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi, in collaboration with the Research and Development Cell of Manipur University and the Manipur Institute of Management Studies (MIMS), organized a National Workshop on Leadership Development for deans, heads of departments, and senior faculty from universities across the North Eastern region. The programme was held at the VC Court Hall of Manipur University.
The event was presided over by Prof. Shashikala Wanjari, Vice Chancellor of NIEPA, with Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Vice Chancellor of Manipur University, serving as the chief guest. Prof. Prabhakar Laishram, Director of MIMS, and Prof. Aarti Srivastava, Head of DHPE, were guests of honour. The workshop was organized under the guidance of Prof. Ch Ibohal Meitei, Director of the Research and Development Cell at Manipur University, and Dr. Sangeeta Angom, Programme Coordinator from NIEPA, who served as organizing secretaries.
In her address, Prof. Shashikala Wanjari highlighted the importance of inclusive education and quality enhancement, emphasizing that effective leadership and collaborative efforts are crucial for the academic growth of institutions.
Speaking as chief guest, Prof. N. Lokendra Singh underlined that such workshops foster leadership skills, strengthen inter-departmental cooperation, and improve academic administration across universities. He also stressed the role of senior faculty members under the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in promoting research, innovation, and mentorship, enabling students to achieve excellence.
The workshop featured interactive sessions and panel discussions led by NIEPA faculty and resource persons from universities across the North Eastern region.
