Manipur Technical University awards degrees to 250-plus graduates at 1st Convocation

Governor of Manipur Ajay Kumar Bhalla, who is also the Chancellor, presided over the 1st Convocation of Manipur Technical University. The convocation, held at the City Convention Centre, marked the first such ceremony of the university since its establishment in 2016.
Vice-Chancellor of Manipur Technical University Prof W Chandbabu Singh, Director of IIT Guwahati Prof Devendra Jalihal, Commissioner of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Manipur Ningthoujam Geoffrey, and Registrar of Manipur Technical University Ramananda Nongmeikapam were present on the occasion.
The Governor formally declared the convocation open and conferred degrees on undergraduate and postgraduate students from various streams for the academic years 2020 to 2025. More than 250 students attended the ceremony.
Addressing the convocation, the Governor congratulated the graduating students and said the occasion reflected pride and positive energy. Referring to the messages shared during the programme, he spoke on the value of resilience, discipline and hard work, stating that success cannot be achieved through shortcuts at any stage of life. He encouraged graduates to explore diverse career paths beyond government service, including entrepreneurship and emerging professions, while calling for integrity and perseverance in all endeavours.
Stating that students, faculty and institutional discipline together determine a university’s standing, the Governor urged Manipur Technical University to strive for national recognition through quality education, research, innovation and market-oriented courses in line with the National Education Policy. He reminded graduates of their responsibility to contribute to society and use their knowledge for the benefit of others. He also appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for ensuring timely conduct of convocations, including the completion of long-pending ones.
The convocation ceremony was attended by graduating students along with their parents, senior government officials, members of the academic fraternity and other distinguished guests.
