Manipur scholar Moirangthem Netalion (Toyai) represented India at the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology (IACCP) 2026 Conference, held at KU Leuven in Belgium from July 14 to 18, where he presented a research paper on identity, acculturation and adaptation amid the ongoing ethnic conflict in Manipur.
A recent postgraduate in Psychology from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Netalion presented a paper titled “Rethinking Integration: Identity, Acculturation, and Adaptation in Ethnic Conflict among the Meitei and Kuki-Zo Communities in Manipur.” The study examines the psychological dimensions of the state’s socio-political situation and was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Shabana Bano and Dr. Chiinngaikim Guite at BHU. He is currently awaiting admission to the doctoral research programme at the university.
Netalion is the second son of noted folk lyricist and ‘Sana Herachandra 2025’ awardee Moirangthem Indrajit Moirang (M.M. Meiraba) and Moirangthem Ongbi Khuraijam Sundari Leima. The family originally hails from Ething Sendra Chingkhong in Bishnupur district and presently resides at Uripok Sorbon Thingel in Imphal West.
He is currently in Belgium following the conclusion of the conference. His participation and presentation at the international academic forum have been widely appreciated, with many describing the achievement as a matter of pride for both Manipur and the country.
