Manipur Police Cyber Crime pulls up 16 suspects over question leaked case

Imphal, April 7: Manipur Police Cyber Crime Unit has picked up 16 suspects which spread question paper for Physics examination of class XII through social networking site WhatsApp before the commencement of the examination on April 5.
Among those picked up includes an admin of a WhatsApp  group identified as Tourangbam Taison, (26 years) son f (L) T. Imocha Meitei of Patsoi Part -1 Lamkhai, opposite CDO/Outpost Imphal West district, Moirengjam Naocha @ Sanayaima Meitei (21 years) son of M. Tombabu Meitei and Laishram Koireng Meitei (24 years), son of L. Nungshikanta Meitei of Terakhong Mayai Leikai, Bishnupur district, Elangbam Mushuk Meitei (21 years) son of E  Bijoy Singh of Hiyanglam Makha Leikai, Thoubal district, (Organisation Secy. DESAM) and 12 other students of class XI and XII of Xtra Edge School, Millennium Institute of Scince, Herbert School, HRD Academy, Ram Lal Paul Hr. Secondary School and Advance Public School.
On April 5, Student body DESAM has alleged leaked of Physics question paper as it was circulated in WhatApp group one hour before the commencement of the examination. DESAM also stated that students at some of the exam center were seen having answer note supplied from outside the examination hall from Question 1 to 20 in toto.
Imphal West Cyber Crime Unit in- charge, Additional SP Dr. S. Ibomcha while taking to media persons stated that, investigation on the matter begin after the Secretary of the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Dr. Meinam Bidyasagar lodge a complaint to the SP Imphal West at 6 pm of April 5 stating that some unknown persons sent the image of the question paper of Physics subject scheduled to begin at 10 am of the day through mobile WhatApp at 9. 20 am.
The Additional SP said that Sub Inspector Abhijeet Karam and Abdul Sarif of the Cyber Crime Unit with cooperation from other police officer started the investigation and within 24 hours of lodging the complaints the 16 suspect were picked up. He said the cyber crime unit had found complete evidence of the root of the leakage of the question paper and assured punishment to all those involved under the law of the land.
