Manipur observes International Yoga Day

The 7th International Day of Yoga is being observed today. The main theme for this year is – Yoga for Wellness, which is aligned to the current pre-occupations. In view of the COVID-19 pandemic and the consequent restrictions on congregational activities, the lead event of the International Day of Yoga was celebrated by broadcasting on all channels of Doordarshan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi address the lead event at 6:30 this morning and after that all yoga related programmes will be held. The event will also include an address by Minister of State for Ayush Kiren Rijiju and a live Yoga demonstration by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga.
In Manipur the day celebrated almost every where in simple way.
The BJP Manipur Pradesh also observed the International Yoga day at its its Party office today.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, National BJP spokesperson Sambit Pattra, who is also the Prabhari of Manipur, Sangathan Mantri of the BJP, Abhay Giri, Works Minister Th. Bishwajit, Lok Sabha MP Dr. RK Ranjan along with other state BJP leaders attended the observance.
Renowned boxer Sarita Devi also attended the International Yoga Day observed the the BJP office.
Manipur Governor Dr. Najma Heptula also observed the day and sent message to encourage Yoga to the people of Manipur in Particular.
The 7th International Yoga Day was observed in Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal celebrated the day at Jubilee Hall, RIMS, Imphal.
Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, Prof. H. Priyoshakhi Deviwhile speaking on the occasion stressed on the importance of yoga in our daily life. The Medical Superintendent stated that the theme of the International Yoga Day “Yoga For Wellness” is very relevant in the current pandemic as we are all fighting the coronavirus pandemic. Prof. AK. Joy Singh, Head of PMR Department, Prof. Th. Sachin Deba Singh, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Mr. Kaikam Doungel, Deputy Director (Admn.), Physical Instructor, officials and staff attended the session.
BJP Keishamthong MANDAL also observed the International Yoga Day at its office located at Keishamthong Hodam Leirak.
The International Yoga Day was also held at the residence of Mrs. Jeevanmala Devi (special invitee State Executive Committee , BJP Manipur Pradesh), at Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai , Imphal, under the guidance of former secretary BJP state executive committee Ulka Salam in a simple way. Due to Covid Pandemic the the Yoga day was held by maintaining Covid-19 SoP.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal also observed the International Yoga Day at the Auditorium of the Academy. The Programme is organized under the guidance and the Instruction of the  Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of Culture Government of India.
Oja Y Nando Luwang Instructor (Yoga) conducted the Yoga Class for 45 minutes. Prof. H Tombi Singh, Former Vice-Chairman JNMDA and P. Bilash Singh, Director (i/c) JNMDA along with artistes of the Production Unit, JNMDA attended the programme. A Manipuri Solo Dance (Neela Kamala and the Krishna gi Wajarabi Yasoda) was also presented by N. Amusana Devi, a renowned Manipuri Dancer, Choreographer, Guru and also Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee. It may be mentioned that the Academy has been celebrating Yoga Day for the last seven years.
International Yoga Day is being observed in about 190 countries across the globe.

Talking enews agency, Culture Minister Prahlad Singh Patel said, his ministry will celebrate Yoga Day this year under the ‘Yoga is an Indian Heritage’ campaign. He said his Ministry has identified 75 cultural and historical places in the country where Yoga Day will be celebrated by following Covid protocol.
