Imphal, Jan 24: Rebel group Maoist Communist Party of Manipur, while condemning the arrest of 9 ASHA workers for staging protest said that such act is a blatant violation of democratic rights of the people and is an act of fascist.
A statement issued by Kyonghan Mangang , Coordinator, Standing Committee Maoist Communist Party- Manipur, said that the incident occurred due to communication gap between the Chief Minister and the Health department. This is being told in reference to the statement of the Chief Minister while laying foundation stone of the new building of the Manipur Public School at Koirengei. There he said that he did not have any knowledge about the presence of ASHA in the programme.
The statement further stated that the ASHA workers were used by the Health department as filler of the crowd to impress the Chief Minister and the ASHA workers too felt that attending such function will have some room for them. The Health Department authority did not inform the Chief Minister about the presence of the ASHA workers as they wanted to show the large number of audience were present in the programme to the Chief Minister.
The statement while putting the blame to the state health director for the kind of mess occurred on the day said that instead of arresting the ASHA workers the government should take adequate action against the Health Director for not informing about the huge number of presence of ASHA in the programme. The Manipur Maoist said that it had always stand for the working class community and will continue to stand for the working class people.
