Manipur High Court dismisses writ petition by Lokayukta in connection with MSPCL case

Division bench of the Manipur High Court comprising of Chief Justice of Manipur High Court, Sanjay Kumar and Justice Jamir had dismissed the writ petition filed by the Lokayukta, Manipur challenging the Manipur High Court order which directed the Lokayukta to stop proceeding in connection with the MSPCL issues.
On May 19, Justice Bimol Singh of the Manipur High Court had directed the Manipur Lokayukta not to proceed with the connected cases pending before the Manipur High in connection with MSPCL issues till Monday (May 23, 2022). However, on May 21, the Lokayukta filed a petition challenging the Court verdict. On the day of the hearing on May 23, the division bench of Chief Justice of Manipur High Court, Sanjay Kumar and Justice Jamir had dismissed the petition saying that there was no merit in the case.
On the other hand, judgment for the case WP© No. 161 of 2022, at which the MSPCL had challenged the recommendation of the Lokyukta in connection allegations to Managing director of the MSPCL has been reserved by the Manipur High Court.
