Manipur Govt warns action against absentee employees during shutdown

Amid the five-day total shutdown called by civil society organisations demanding justice for the Tronglaobi victims, the Manipur Government has warned of departmental action against employees remaining absent from duty without authorised leave.
An order issued by Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel directed all Administrative Secretaries and Heads of Departments to ensure attendance of employees in their respective offices, including subordinate establishments, despite calls for bandh and disruption by various groups.
The directive stated that attendance reports must be submitted to the concerned Administrative Departments, and departmental proceedings will be initiated against officials found absent without valid permission.
The Chief Secretary further instructed all Deputy Commissioners to ensure the smooth functioning of government offices across districts and to strictly monitor staff attendance during the shutdown period.
