Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Wednesday reaffirmed the Manipur government’s commitment to eliminating the drug menace through sustained and coordinated efforts after reviewing the state’s anti-narcotics strategy with senior officials of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

The review meeting, held at the State Secretariat, was attended by R. Sudhakar, IPS, Deputy Director General (Northeast Region), NCB, and P.K. Mishra, Additional Director, NCB. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the state government and the NCB to intensify the fight against drug trafficking and related crimes.

According to the Chief Minister, the meeting deliberated on enhancing intelligence gathering, improving operational coordination between state and central enforcement agencies, and strengthening collaboration with international agencies to dismantle drug trafficking networks operating across borders.

The officials also reviewed the implementation of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, with emphasis on reinforcing enforcement mechanisms to curb the illegal drug trade and ensure effective prosecution of offenders.

Sharing details of the meeting on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said the government remains steadfast in its resolve to make Manipur drug-free through a comprehensive and coordinated approach involving all stakeholders.

“The government remains firmly committed to eliminating the drug menace through coordinated and sustained efforts,” Khemchand Singh stated, reiterating the state’s resolve to intensify its anti-drug campaign.
