The Manipur Government has finalised an extensive line-up of programmes for the Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 campaign, which will be observed across the state from August 9 to 17 as part of the nationwide initiative of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, to promote patriotism and national unity.
Addressing a press conference at the Mini Conference Hall, North Block, Civil Secretariat, Mantripukhri, Secretary (Art & Culture) Naorem Praveen Singh, IAS, said this year’s campaign will also commemorate the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram” through a series of patriotic and cultural events encouraging every household to hoist the National Flag with pride.
A major highlight of the campaign will be the State-level Vande Mataram-themed Tiranga Concert to be held at MSFDS Hall on August 12 in collaboration with the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA).
The Education, Higher and Technical Education departments, in coordination with the Art & Culture Department, will organise Tiranga and Vande Mataram exhibitions in schools, colleges and prominent public places to educate students and the public on the significance of the National Flag and the national song.
Naorem Praveen said preparations were reviewed at a high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary, with Administrative Secretaries, Deputy Commissioners and senior officials finalising district-wise activities.
The week-long campaign will include bike and cycle rallies across districts and Gram Panchayats, Tiranga-inspired artwork in educational institutions, large tricolour-themed rangolis at prominent locations, and illumination of government offices and important public buildings in the colours of the National Flag.
Around two lakh National Flags have been kept ready for distribution, while Tiranga selfie points will be set up across Imphal and other districts. Citizens will be encouraged to upload photographs on the official Har Ghar Tiranga portal.
The Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) will coordinate publicity and document the events. As part of Partition Horrors Remembrance Day on August 14, the State and district administrations will organise commemorative programmes and public awareness events. Educational institutions have also been encouraged to participate in the National Online Quiz on the MyGov portal from August 1 to September 15.
The Art & Culture Department appealed to government departments, educational institutions, civil society organisations and the public to actively participate in the campaign and help carry the message of patriotism and national unity to every corner of Manipur.
Director (Art & Culture) K. Dinamani Singh, Joint Secretary Sunanda Thokchom, Joint Directors Mrinashree Mairembam and G. Dharmadas Sharma, and Programme Officer Longjam Johnson Singh were also present at the press conference.
