Former Member of Parliament Kim Gangte expressed her intention to contest the upcoming Outer Lok Sabha election while interacting with the people of Thoubal district on Sunday.

Gangte said that many elders in the state have expressed their desire to see more women representatives in the state.

Gangte added that she is likely to contest the election again if the people support her and encourage her.

Kim further said that she contested her first election after seeing different problems faced by the hills while working as a social activist. She had raised the issue of AFSPA in the parliament during her tenure as a member of parliament, she added.

“After I lost the election many individuals have contested and won the Lok Sabha election but none of them have raised the issue of the state in the parliament,” said Kim.

Addressing the gathering, Kim stated, “Family cannot grow without women but many women can live alone while men cannot leave without women, but by saying that it does not mean women should forget their role as a women.”

Loving and understanding each other is a must in human life and without that there can be no development, said Kim.

Working together is vital to support a family and the same goes for the state and the country, she added.
