Imphal, June 27:
The All Manipur Councillors and Cooperator Welfare Association have urged both the Central and State governments to take immediate action in restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur. The association emphasized the importance of urban local bodies (ULBs), including Councillors, Ward Members, and cooperators, being actively involved in the peace committee.
Arambam Omila, the President of the association, highlighted the crucial role played by ULBs at the grassroots level, as they directly engage with the people and understand their needs. Omila emphasized the need for increased financial assistance, as announced by both the central and state governments, to effectively address the challenges faced by the ULBs.
The organization also demanded that Chief Minister N Biren be appointed as the unified command during the implementation of Article 355 in Manipur. They strongly criticized the concept of separate administrations for the hill and valley regions, emphasizing the importance of a unified approach.
With a membership count reaching thousands, the association expressed their determination to take their demands to the national capital, Delhi, through protests if their concerns were not addressed by the government.
