Manipur Cabinet hails Modi’s 25 years in public service

The Manipur Cabinet today expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of his completing 25 years in public service, while highlighting various Central projects and initiatives undertaken in Manipur during his tenure.

Briefing the media after the Cabinet meeting, Manipur Government spokesperson and MLA Sapam Ranjan said the Cabinet placed on record its appreciation for Modi’s leadership and his vision of building a Viksit Bharat by 2047 through Seva, Sushasan and Antyodaya.

Modi became Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001, and has served as Prime Minister since May 26, 2014. He will complete 25 years in public service on October 7, 2026.

Listing major developments in Manipur, Ranjan cited the extension of railway connectivity to the state in 2022, the world’s tallest railway pier bridge, around 1,100 km of sanctioned national highways involving about Rs.16,000 crore, 240 km of border fencing sanctioned at Rs.3,223 crore and expansion of rural tap-water coverage.

He also cited the 2023 peace agreement with the United National Liberation Front (UNLF), restoration of the Inner Line Permit system in 2019, establishment of the National Sports University and the medical college in the hill district, besides coverage of around 14 lakh people under Ayushman Bharat.

Ranjan said externally aided projects worth over Rs.11,000 crore had been approved for Manipur and Rs.6,400 crore received for capital investment, apart from various Centrally sponsored schemes.

The Cabinet, he said, also prayed for the Prime Minister’s continued service to the country.

Asked about reports of Union Home Minister Amit Shah visiting Manipur, Ranjan said there was no confirmation of such a visit, while indicating that a visit in October was possible.
