The Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur, has become the first State Board in the country to establish a dedicated PARAKH Cell for the implementation of the transformative reforms envisaged under the National Education Policy 2020. The initiative has been undertaken in line with the framework laid down by PARAKH–NCERT, New Delhi.
The newly established PARAKH Cell was formally inaugurated on January 16, 2026, at the office of the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur. The inauguration was carried out jointly by Professor Indrani Bhaduri, Chief Executive Officer and Head of PARAKH–NCERT, New Delhi, and the Chairman of the Council, Takhellambam Ojit Singh.
The inaugural programme was attended by State-nominated Council Members Dr E Iboyaima Singh, Dr Y Kunjabihari Singh, and N Opendro Singh. Professor Kh Dineshkumar, Resource Person of the Council, was also present on the occasion.
Officials stated that the establishment of the PARAKH Cell marks a significant step towards aligning the state’s higher secondary education system with national assessment and evaluation reforms. The Cell will function as an institutional platform for organising workshops and facilitating structured discussions among resource persons, subject experts, educationists, and teachers.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening assessment practices, promoting competency-based learning, and supporting the effective rollout of NEP 2020 at the higher secondary level. The Council expressed the view that the PARAKH Cell will play a key role in capacity building and in ensuring a smooth transition to the new assessment framework prescribed under the national policy.
Education officials described the development as a milestone for Manipur, positioning the state at the forefront of educational reforms in line with national priorities.
