The Manipur Legislative Assembly on Friday passed grants amounting to Rs. 6,710.88 crore for ten departments for the financial year 2026–27 on the 5th day of the 7th Session of the 12th Assembly.
Leader of the House Yumnam Khemchand Singh placed ten demands for grants before the House for discussion and voting. The demands covered the departments of Transport, Labour and Employment, Tribal Affairs and Hills Development, Environment and Forest, Community and Rural Development, Planning, Rehabilitation, State Academy of Training, Minorities and Other Backward Classes and Scheduled Castes Development, and Information Technology.
Following deliberations, the Assembly approved a total allocation of Rs. 67,10,88,32,000 for the departments concerned.
Among the allocations, the Planning Department received Rs. 2,413,86,95,000, while Community and Rural Development was allocated Rs. 1,403,93,64,000. The Department of Tribal Affairs and Hills Development received Rs. 1,035,37,36,000, and the Environment and Forest Department was allocated Rs. 819,15,34,000. The Rehabilitation Department received Rs. 747,78,92,000.
Other allocations included Rs. 45,89,39,000 for Transport and Rs. 38,87,96,000 for Labour and Employment. The House also passed Rs. 12,05,01,000 for the State Academy of Training, Rs. 115,95,49,000 for Minorities and Other Backward Classes and Scheduled Castes Development, and Rs. 77,98,26,000 for the Information Technology Department.
The demands for grants were discussed by members of the House before being put to vote and passed as part of the state budget for the 2026–27 financial year.
