Imphal, July 11 : The 8th session of the 10th Manipur state assembly begins today with the house of 60 members expressing their sorrow on the sad demise of Md Helaluddin Khan, former member of the assembly from Lilong assembly constituency, at the new assembly complex at Chingmeirong in Imphal West with a two minutes silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul. Helaluddin Khan was elected as an MLA from Lilong seat for four terms since 1980. The ruling MLAs who participated in the obituary include PHED Minister I Hemochandra, Agriculture Minister Md Nasir, Social welfare minister AK Mirabai, MLAs Md Fajur Rahim and Paonam Brojen alongwith opposition members Dr I Ibohalbi Singh, Th Shyamkumar Singh and Lukhoi. The speaker of the house Th Lokeshwar also participated in the day’s obituary references. Later Speaker adjourned the sitting of the house till 11 am of Monday(July 14). Sources said the 12 day assembly sittings which is scheduled to conclude on July 28 will resume on Monday(July 14) to discuss the Governor’s address and other government business. The discussion on the presentation of budget estimates 2014-15 will begin from July 15 and will be followed by general discussion on budget estimates, according to provisional calendar of the forthcoming sitting of the assembly issued by Secretary Akoijam Tiken of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
