Khullem Krishnamohon (42), S/o (L) Jugeshwor of Naoremthong Khullem Leikai who has been battling for his life at ICU of Shija Hospital after sustaining bullet injuries succumbed to his injuries today morning. The unfortunate incident occurred when Khullem Kendrajit of Naoremthong Khullem Leikai had an altercation with his son Jiten yesterday which heated up forcing the deceased Krishnamohon and Nungshitombi @ Priyabarta, both uncles of Jiten, to intervene. An enraged Jiten then shot both his uncles and fled his home. The injured were immediately rushed to Shija Hospital. Enraged locals, on hearing of the death of Krishnamohon soon converged and destroyed the house of the absconding killer. Interestingly, a number of live and spent cartridges of different firearms were also recovered from the premise of Jiten. Locals also burnt down a Mahindra Scorpio (MN01S/ 3281) and a Mahindra Duro scooter along with a generator belonging to the absconding killer. Locals also blocked the Naoremthong Khullem Leikai road till 5 pm today. Speaking to the media, Kh. Bijayani, wife of the deceased described the killer as a parasite to the society and appealed to all the authorities and social organizations to help in his arrest and to mete out the harshest possible punishment to Jiten. On the other hand, the JAC formed in connection with the killing has resolved to banish the killer from the locality, to push for adoption of stricter gun licensing procedures, to forbade sale of the homestead of the accused without the consent of the local body and JAC, to pressurize authorities for prompt arrest and punishment of the accused, and to not carry out the last rites of the dead body until the arrest of Jiten. Incidentally, there had been a previous case of unprovoked firing by the accused.
