Man held with over 1 Kg suspected Opium near Khuman Lampak

A joint team of police and security forces apprehended a man with more than 1 (one) kilogram of suspected opium near the main gate of Khuman Lampak Sports Complex in Imphal West district yesterday afternoon.
According to police reports, the operation was launched at around 2:30 pm following specific intelligence inputs received from YADAM and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (Imphal West) regarding a person allegedly selling contraband drugs in the area.
Acting on the information, a police team from Imphal Police Station led by Additional Superintendent of Police (Ops), Imphal West, assisted by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Imphal, personnel of CDO Imphal West, M&N Sector Quick Action Team, Range QAT and CRPF, rushed to the location under the overall supervision of the Superintendent of Police, Imphal West.
During the operation, the team detained one individual identified as Hefajuddin Mayangmayum, aged 42, son of Moulana Sirajyddin Mayanglambam of Komlakhong Makha Leikai in Imphal West district.
Two packets containing suspected opium were recovered from his possession. The first packet weighed about 480 grams while the second packet weighed approximately 522 grams, bringing the total to around 1.002 kilograms.
The seizure was carried out with the assistance of the Mobile Forensic Unit, Imphal East. Police also seized the accused’s mobile phone, Aadhaar card and ATM card.
A case has been registered at Imphal Police Station under Section 18(C) of the NDPS Act and further investigation is underway.
