Make in India: Centre asks states to act

In pursuance of the Central government’s initiative to transform Indian into a global manufacturing hub, the Union government has prepared a detailed document on action and instructed States and Union Territories to carry out the ‘Action Points’.
Informing this to all the States and Union territories, Atul Chaturvedi, Joint Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce & Industries, Government of India, said that the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has emphasized on Ease of Doing Business and has highlighted the imperative need for India to radically improve its position in the World Bank study from the present 142 to within top 52.
During the National Workshop held on Make in India held on 29th December, 2014 at New Delhi, a detailed document on action to be taken by States with specific timelines was prepared and finalized. It has been circulated to all States and Union Territories.
The Joint Secretary also sent a list of action to be taken during a stipulated period.
In a letter to L Lakher, Principal Secretary, Department of Commerce and Industries, Government of Manipur, Atul Chaturvedi said, “I am sure that every States must already initiated actions as recommended in Annexure so that each States can be in the forefront of the new Manufacturing and Ease of doing Business revolution.”
