Imphal, April 2: Following the non-stop heavy rain for the last few days, most of the major rivers in Imphal Valley are running high with various places experience flash flood. Many areas in Imphal and its surrounding areas experience heavy flood occurred due to the blockage of drains which is mainly of throwing garbages and waste materials. Imphal River, Nambul River, Kongba River and Iril River continue to run high though these rivers are yet to reach the danger mark. Man-made flood were also notice in various places of Imphal areas including Lamphel, Kakwa Bazar, Chanchipur, Keishampat Dhobi Machu Leirak, Singjamei Waikhom Leikai, Sagolband Moirang Leirak, Wangkhei Angom Leikai, Porompat, Nongmeibung, Keishampat, etc. People of these places have been suffering various inconveniences due to the flash flood. On the other hand, flood water also affected several areas in Thongju Part 1 and 2 in Thongju Assembly Constituency. Thongju Unified Flood Fighting Committee (TUFFC) form jointly by 12 Clubs of the Thongju Constituency has began to work in most of the flood affected areas of the constituency and was able to drain out flood water by cleaning the drains and river water since yesterday. Among the different rivers of the state, River Chandranadi which flows through Singjamei Thongam Leikai, Kakwa and Thongju areas remained block due to dumping of garbages and waste materials in the river by the people living in and around the area which led to man-made flood with the recent non-stop heavy rain. TUFFC cleans the river with the help of Work Minister and Thongju MLA Th Bishwajit and the Pradhan of Thongju Part 2. Meanwhile, sources of ICAR, Lamphelpat said that Manipur has so far recorded 65 millimeter rainfall and predicted that it might be raining heavily in the next few coming days. Mentioned may be that relief items like rice and pulses have been distributed to the flood victims of Kwakeithel Moirang Purel in Keishamthong Constituency since yesterday under the supervision of Health and Family Welfare Minister L. Jayentankumar. Most of the flood affected people has urged the present government to take necessary measures to help them avail their daily necessity.
