The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the earthquake occurred at 10:36 am local time at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter, which was located near Imphal, Manipur.
According to seismic data, the quake’s epicenter was 29 km from Chongdan in Manipur. The tremors were also felt in neighboring Myanmar, making India and Myanmar the most affected countries by the seismic activity.

The tremors were reportedly felt in several towns and cities, including Yairipok (45 km from the epicenter), Wangjing (46 km), Thoubal (51 km), Imphal (55 km), Kakching (58 km), Mayang Imphal (62 km), and Moirang (76 km). Residents in Churachandpur, located 94 km away, also reported weak shaking.
