Magnitude 5.2 Earthquake jolts Manipur

A moderate earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck Manipur in the early hours today, according to the National Center for Seismology.
The tremor occurred at approximately 5:59 am IST, with its epicentre located in Kamjong district. In a post on X, the agency stated: “EQ of M: 5.2, On: 21/04/2026 05:59:33 IST, Lat: 24.703 N, Long: 94.415 E, Depth: 62 Km, Location: Kamjong, Manipur.”
The earthquake originated at a depth of 62 kilometres, classifying it as a moderately deep seismic event. Tremors were felt across several parts of the state, with residents reporting that the shaking was strong enough to wake them from sleep.
