Locals threatens to block road at Chingmeirong Maning Leikai

Imphal, Jan 4: Locals of Chingmeirong Maning Leikai today threaten to blocked roads leading to Chingmeirong Maning Leikai protesting non-repairing of the roads for more than six (6) months.
Speaking to the media persons at Shinam Shyama Devi Town Hall of Chingmeirong Maning Leikai, one of the local identified as  Elangbam Memma said that on February 23 of 2016 the four side of the road passing through Chingmeirong Maning Leikai was repaired as pacca road by the locals contributing from their own finances as the road became non-moveable for any kind of vehicles.
Unfortunately, on July of 2016, some contractor began to destruct the roads which have been repaired just 5 months back without any concern from the locals, she added.
Memma also said that the new process to repair the road made them think that it will harden and make the road stronger but that does not turn out the way the locals have thought off as the process halt up with just pebbles with red soils for more than 6 months.
Since the road has remained unrepaired, locals have been facing lots of problem, even accident have occurred along the road as the road became slippery during rainy season from the red soils and scattered pebbles, even the contractor didn’t even turn up when the locals called up to hold a meeting , she added.
