Locals irked after a woman died in delivery case at JNIMS; calls indefinite bandh at Indo Burma road

Imphal, July 16: Tension runs high at JNIMS hospital after a woman died in delivery case yesterday evening. Family members and locals of the deceased lady blamed the doctors at JNIMS for the cause of the death and demanding immediate action against all those responsible for the death, a Joint Action Committee has been formed and called an indefinite blockade along the Indo-Myanmar Border from today.

The deceased identified as L Roma Devi wife of L Sanjoy  Singh of Kiyamgei Maning leikai had delivered a baby boy at JNIMS hospital through caesarean section. She died when she was about to be discharged from the hospital yesterday evening.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today afternoon, convenor of the JAC against the unnatural death of Roma devi blamed the doctors of JNIMS for their negligence towards the patient. He said that the JAC will launch several forms of agitation until those responsible are punished.

The JAC further demanded immediate conduct of post mortem by a third party doctor and that too in the presence of family member besides taking video coverage. The JAC also demanded termination of the doctors responsible for the death.
